“Then they will know that I am the Lord”
      Revealed by Ezekiel in Babylon

The Lord God wants Israel and all the world to know that he remains the Almighty Lord over all that he has so wonderfully created. When will we open our eyes to see and believe this truth? To emphasise the importance of our knowing God’s lordship, Ezekiel declares it 71 times in the prophecy that he was given. The God-ordered tribulation events of the last days will leave men without excuse if they choose to ignore the Lordship of Almighty God.

You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God! ... Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places. ... Wherever you dwell, the cities shall be waste and the high places ruined ... And the slain shall fall in your midst, and you shall know that I am the Lord. ... and they will be loathsome in their own sight for the evils that they have committed, for all their abominations. And they shall know that I am the Lord. ... Thus I will spend my fury upon them. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when their slain lie among their idols around their altars ... And I will stretch out my hand against them and make the land desolate and waste, in all their dwelling places, from the wilderness to Riblah. Then they will know that I am the Lord.  63-14

Thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel: ... I will send my anger upon you; I will judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations. ... Then you will know that I am the Lord. ... Now I will soon pour out my wrath upon you ... Then you will know that I am the Lord.  71-9

According to their way I will do to them, and according to their judgments I will judge them, and they shall know that I am the Lord.  727

O house of Israel ... I will bring the sword upon you, declares the Lord God. ... You shall fall by the sword ... and you shall know that I am the Lord.  118-10

You shall know that I am the Lord. For you have not walked in my statutes, nor obeyed my rules, but have acted according to the rules of the nations that are around you.  1112

The house of Israel shall go into exile ... And I will bring him to Babylon ... And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them among the countries. But I will let a few of them escape from the sword, from famine and pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the Lord.  129-16

Thus says the Lord God concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: ... on account of the violence of all those who dwell in it. ... the land shall become a desolation; and you shall know that I am the Lord.  1219,20

My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord God. ... I will break down the wall that you have smeared with whitewash ... When it falls, you shall perish in the midst of it, and you shall know that I am the Lord.  139-14

And you shall know that I am the Lord. Because you have disheartened the righteous falsely, ... and you have encouraged the wicked ... I will deliver my people out of your hand. And you shall know that I am the Lord.  1321-23

Repent and turn away from your idols ... anyone who separates himself from me, taking his idols into his heart ... I the Lord will answer him myself. And I will set my face against that man; I will make him a sign and a byword and cut him off from the midst of my people, and you shall know that I am the Lord.  146-8

Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so have I given up the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And I will set my face against them. Though they escape from the fire, the fire shall yet consume them, and you will know that I am the Lord.  156,7

Thus says the Lord God: As I live, surely it is my oath that he despised, and my covenant that he broke. ... I will bring him to Babylon and enter into judgment with him there for the treachery he has committed against me. ... and you shall know that I am the Lord.  1719-21

I am the Lord your God; walk in my statutes, and be careful to obey my rules, and keep my Sabbaths holy that they may be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.  2019,20

I defiled them through their very gifts in their offering up all their firstborn, that I might devastate them. I did it that they might know that I am the Lord.  2026

I will purge out the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against me. I will bring them out of the land where they sojourn, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.  2038

Thus says the Lord God, Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you and every dry tree. The blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from south to north shall be scorched by it. All flesh shall see that I the Lord have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.  2047,48

Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am against you and will draw my sword from its sheath and will cut off from you both righteous and wicked. Because I will cut off from you both righteous and wicked, therefore my sword shall be drawn from its sheath against all flesh from south to north. And all flesh shall know that I am the Lord.  213-5

I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it. I will scatter you among the nations and disperse you through the countries, and I will consume your uncleanness out of you. And you shall be profaned by your own doing in the sight of the nations, and you shall know that I am the Lord.  2214-16

I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted in the midst of it. As silver is melted in a furnace, so you shall be melted in the midst of it, and you shall know that I am the Lord; I have poured out my wrath upon you.  2221,22

Son of man, behold, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you at a stroke; yet you shall not mourn or weep ... Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and the yearning of your soul, and your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword. ... Thus shall Ezekiel be to you a sign; according to all that he has done you shall do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord God. ...
On that day your mouth will be opened to the fugitive, and you shall speak and be no longer mute. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the Lord.

Yet I will remember my covenant with you ... Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed ... and you shall know that I am the Lord, that you may remember and be confounded, and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I atone for you for all that you have done, declares the Lord God.  1660-63

Thus says the Lord God: “I myself will take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar ... I will break off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I myself will plant it on a high and lofty mountain of Israel. ... And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord; I bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up the green tree, and make the dry tree flourish. I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.  1722-24

For on my holy mountain, the mountain height of Israel, declares the Lord God, there all the house of Israel, all of them, shall serve me in the land. There I will accept them, and there I will require your contributions and the choicest of your gifts, with all your sacred offerings. As a pleasing aroma I will accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered. And I will manifest my holiness among you in the sight of the nations. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the country that I swore to give to your fathers. And there you shall remember your ways and all your deeds with which you have defiled yourselves, and you shall loathe yourselves for all the evils that you have committed. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for my name's sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt deeds, O house of Israel, declares the Lord God.  2040-44

Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I have made the land a desolation and a waste because of all their abominations that they have committed.  3329

I will make with them a covenant of peace ... And the trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase, and they shall be secure in their land. And they shall know that I am the Lord. ... And they shall know that I am the Lord their God with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, declares the Lord God.  3425,27,30

But you, O mountains of Israel, shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to my people Israel, for they will soon come home. ... And I will cause you to be inhabited as in your former times, and will do more good to you than ever before. Then you will know that I am the Lord.  368,11

On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, ... ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden, ... Then the nations that are left all around you shall know that I am the Lord; I have rebuilt the ruined places and replanted that which was desolate. I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it. ... Then they will know that I am the Lord.  3633-38

Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the Lord.  3712-14

It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will set them in their land and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.  3726-28

And my holy name I will make known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.  397

I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid on them. The house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God, from that day forward. And the nations shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they dealt so treacherously with me that I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their adversaries.  3921-24

Therefore thus says the Lord God: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on the whole house of Israel, and I will be jealous for my holy name. They shall forget their shame and all the treachery they have practised against me, when they dwell securely in their land with none to make them afraid ... Then they shall know that I am the Lord their God, because I sent them into exile among the nations and then assembled them into their own land. I will leave none of them remaining among the nations anymore. And I will not hide my face anymore from them, when I pour out my Spirit upon the house of Israel, declares the Lord God.  3925-29

Then they will know that I am the Lord. ... And for the house of Israel there shall be no more a brier to prick or a thorn to hurt them among all their neighbours who have treated them with contempt. They shall dwell securely, when I execute judgments upon all their neighbours who have treated them with contempt. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.  2820-26

Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt ... Then they will know that I am the Lord.  3018,19 I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh shall fall. Then they shall know that I am the Lord, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt. And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them throughout the countries. Then they will know that I am the Lord.  3025,26

Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir ... Because you cherished perpetual enmity and gave over the people of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their calamity ... I will make you a perpetual desolation, and your cities shall not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord. ... I will deal with you according to the anger and envy that you showed because of your hatred against them. And I will make myself known among them, when I judge you. And you shall know that I am the Lord. ... As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so I will deal with you; you shall be desolate, Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then they will know that I am the Lord.  351-15

You will come up against my people Israel, like a cloud covering the land. In the latter days I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when through you, O Gog, I vindicate my holiness before their eyes. ... So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.  3816,23

I will send fire on Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they shall know that I am the Lord.  396
